Empowering teens through creativity and support

Soul Spill is an online literary journal dedicated to empowering teens through creative expression and mental health awareness. We provide a safe space for teens to share their stories, poems, and artwork, fostering open conversations and breaking down stigma surround mental health. Explore powerful narratives and resources that support mental well-being with us, including links to hotlines, FAQs, and other essential mental health support tools.

Our team is passionate about creating a supportive and inspiring space for teens. Each member brings unique skills and experiences to the table, united by a common goal: to spread awareness and encourage creative expression.

Ananya Raman

Hello! My name is Ananya, and I am currently a freshman at UC Berkeley. Soul Spill was created out of my hope to make a meaningful impact on the mental well-being of teens using my passion and skill for writing. In my free time, I enjoy singing, cooking, and being outside.

Roxanna Abdollahi

Hi! My name is Roxanna, and I am a senior at Los Gatos High School in California. I joined Soul Spill to continue my work advocating for student mental health and to help create a space where students feel heard and supported. Beyond Soul Spill, I love to swim, read, and do research (read my paper on page 55).

I am Shuntaro Hari, a Senior at Los Gatos High School in the Bay Area. I joined Soul Spill to inspire hope about the problems we face in the world and explore the change we could create. Apart from this journal, I enjoy playing basketball and travelling with friends and family.

Hi! My name is Aarii and I am a senior at Menlo Atherton High School in Atherton, California. I joined Soul Spill to contribute meaningful mental health resources I believe should be accessible to all. Apart from Soul Spill, I am a competitive figure skater and enjoy spending time outdoors.

I am Ardavan Afrakhteh, a senior at the Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley, California. I'm working on this journal because I find writing a regenerative and uplifting process for students my age. I enjoy water polo, playing the drums, and being outdoors.

Hi! My name is Meg, and I’m a senior at Presentation High School in San Jose, California. I’m excited to help spread the word about soul spill and teen mental health in the bay area and beyond! Outside of school, you can find me window shopping, biking around, and going on hikes.

Hey! I’m Akshara a senior at Notre Dame SJ High School in San Jose, California. I joined Soul Spill to impact our community and raise awareness for mental health in our youth. Apart from the journal I’m involved in dance, soccer and speech and debate.
